The Morelia International Film Festival spellbound by Juliette Binoche
The 12th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival, in メキシコ, took place October 17 through 26, 2014. UniFrance was out in force at the event, and organized Juliette Binoche's trip to attend the event.
The Morelia International Film Festival is one of the most popular events for film lovers in Latin America, if not the world: directors such as Quentin Tarantino, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Carlos Reygadas, and Gaspar Noé have attended it.
At screenings, in the city's theaters (whose comfortable and easily accessible facilities are much appreciated), filmgoers can see the latest and best of current international cinema, some of which has come from festivals such as Cannes or Venice: Birdman by Inarritu (the opening film), along with Whiplash by Damien Chazelle, The Tribe by Miroslav Slaboshpitsky, and Leviathan by Andrei Zviaguintsev, to mention just a few.
Juliette Binoche received the Medal of the UNAM Film Archive, one the most prestigious cinema awards in Latin America, gave a masterclass, and participated in several press conferences. She also presented three of the films in which she has starred, including Clouds of Sils Maria, which will soon release in メキシコ (distributed by Mantarraya).
Other titles presented in Competition or in the festival's other sections:
- Eat Your Bones by Jean-Charles Hue
- We Come as Friends by Hubert Sauper
- Timbuktu by Abderrahmane Sissako
- The Homesman by Tommy Lee Jones
- In the Courtyard by Pierre Salvadori.
