The Franco-German Film Academy

Now that the training section is taking shape, the French and German Culture Ministers have announced the release of FFr14 million to support co-productions. (02/23/01)
During the recent Berlin International Film Festival, Catherine Tasca and her German counterpart, Julian Nida-Rümelin, got together to discuss the Franco-German Film Academy. The German Minister announced the allocation of DM2.1 million (FFr7 million) to finance the upcoming mini-treaty aimed at assisting co-productions. Catherine Tasca confirmed that France would make equivalent funds available. This will no doubt pave the way for the signing of the general co-productions accord and the mini-treaty for selective bilateral aid.
Coinciding with this is the forthcoming opening of the Academy's training department in Ludwigsburg on April 1. Under the supervision of Arthur Hofer, artistic director of the Filmakademie, 20 students (10 from Germany and 10 from France) will take part in this masterclass. They will be notably involved in editing a project co-produced by France and Germany.
