2nd French Film Week in Vienna

For the second year running, the distributor Cinestar is holding a French Film Week in its Viennese theater, this year showcasing 9 French films.

For its second French Film Festival, the distributor/exhibitor of Vienna's legendary Burg Kino theater will present nine French films as yet unreleased in Austria. The week will kick off with "Frenchmen" by Marc Esposito. "La Petite Lili" by Claude Miller will be screened in the presence of the film's director, prior to its release on October 3.

The following films are also on the menu at the event:
- "That Day" by Raoul Ruiz (to be released in December)
- "Who Killed Bambi?" by Gilles Marchand (to be released early 2004)
- "Demonlover" by Olivier Assayas (to be released in November)
- "Irreversible" by Gaspar Noé (to be released in November)
- "La Classe de Neige" by Claude Miller
- "Un homme, un vrai" by Arnaud and Jean-Marie Larrieu
- "Strange Gardens" by Jean Becker

Having previously specialized in English-language films, Cinestar opened its doors to French films last year. In addition to their activities in the distribution and exhibition sectors, Marlene and Kurt Schramek hope to make their French Film Week a permanent feature of the cultural calendar, complementing the Francophone Film Festival held in Vienna in the spring.
