Diversity of French cinema triumphs at the Lumières

Foreign journalists awarded 6 French films at the 17th Cérémonie des Lumières held last night at the Hôtel de Ville of Paris.

The Artist by Michel Hazanavicius, well set off to glean numerous prizes in America, won the trophy for Best Film and Best Actress for Bérénice Béjo.

Maïwenn was elected Best Director for Polisse, which also walked off with the Prize for Best Cinematography, attributed to Pierre Aïm.

Untouchable was not forgotten, since Omar Sy's performance entitled him to the Best Actor's Prize.

The Snows of Kilimanjaro, by Robert Guédiguian was honoured with the Best Screenplay Prize.

Best Hopes this year went to Denis Ménochet for the film by Mélanie Laurent, Les Adoptés, as well as the three stars of L'Apollonide: Alice Barnole, Adèle Haenel and Céline Sallette

Finally, the Prize for Best French-Speaking film went to Incendies by Denis Villeneuve.
