Julie François is a single parent. A school drop-out, she became a specialised factory worker and ,eventually, creator, in a strange industry : wallpaper. "Giving people dreams by designing their walls". A real opportunity opens for Julie to go to teach her craft in Pondichery, India. But to be able to teach, she needs a diploma. A strange fellow -Leopold Bonhomme- crosses Julie's path. He dreams of Knowledge too. As a trumpet player in the Paris Opera orchestra, he still has time for dreams.
The real subject of the film is not, of course, the quest of Julie and Leopold (both are one hundred years old) to obtain their shool diplomas. Rather, it is a journey through the looking-glass, an Odyssey. Two journeys, in fact, are superimposed. One of them hopes, dreams maybe, of Pondichery... and the other, of a symbolic journey - but fundamentally more tangible - into childhood.
