Madame Petlet, the epitome of common sense, leaves her husband and runs off to Paris where she finds work as a nanny for a stressed-out TV writer. The latter, suffering from writer's block and harassed by her ratings-obsessed boss, finds an endless source of inspiration in Madame Petlet. Without her realizing, she spies on her and steals thousands of details from her life to write a TV series. Against all odds, the series is a gigantic hit.
"Tearing along a top speed, "Madame Petlet's True Story" is an attractive commercial comedy about a TV-writer who creates a hit show by secretly taking her inspiration from her child's nanny. The film is altogether comic with a heavy dose of social satire. In fact, American studios are already vying for the remake rights... The performances are skilful and effortless and should delight family audiences (...). The lively jazz soundtrack and competent camerawork provide the topping for the cake."
