At the reading of their mother's will, Jeanne and Simon Marwan are given two envelopes: one is addressed to their father who they thought was dead and the other to a brother they never knew existed.
Jeanne sees in this enigmatic inheritance the key to the unexplained silence that took over her mother a few weeks prior to her death. She immediately decides to leave for the Middle East to exhume the past of this family about whom she knows virtually nothing.
As for Simon, he has no time for the posthumous whims of this mother who had always been distant when she was alive. But his love for his twin sister soon drives him to join up with Jeanne and to travel with her though the country of their ancestors on the hunt for a mother who was far different from the one they knew.
