About
"Dirty Tricks" is a genuine miracle. When we first met Patrick Lévy, he had been toting the project around for three years. His experience was that of a self-taught person. In fact, he started out with acting classes and stage directing with Florent and then threw himself into directing, video camera in hand, to make and produce his first short films. But, like many young directors, he had to experience the hardship of this trade before moving on to his first feature. We produced it in a combative state of mind. His film is the result of a genuine team effort. Patrick managed to shoot his film in 24 days with around ten crew members. He also played one of the two main parts with Samy Nacéri, while giving the film a great deal of clarity and a frantically musical rhythm. He tackled the distribution of his film with generosity even though, as with many first French films, he didn't get the breaks he needed in the face of cheap American products."
