あらすじ
All seems lost. Then, in a lonely, freezing park, two shadowy figures meet: João de Deus and a messenger from God. The messenger gives the gangster a case stuffed with money then leaves, his mission accomplished. João counts the notes then, hearing a loud splash in the still water of a nearby lake, goes to see what it is. A young girl is drowning. Joào jumps into the water, carries the unconscious Joanna to a convent, then returns to the park to fetch the case and its contents. . . .

If the way films turn out were not subject to mundane accidents of all kinds, this one would have gotten back on track at the end of "God's Comedy" and, since, the rhythm and feeling for the rest had been found, everything would have fallen perfectly into place. But since things did not turn out like that, since it wasn't fashioned in accordance with our new wishes, I'm afraid that yet again, we are faced with a perverse quandary. Who on earth would think of making a film which, with a pinch of irony, continuously tells us about its own infeasiblity, the infeasiblity of its very "raison d’être"? But do not despair, O unbelievers, one can live with this, one really can.
