A few days in the life of Max. The memories of the past catch up with him just as he is about to get married... Believing that he recognizes the voice of Lisa whom he was in love with a few years before, he sets off to look for her. Five characters trapped in an adventure, a sentimental thriller, a romantic comedy that could seem like a tale, a dream or a nightmare. Blinded by their feelings, tricked by their senses, they try to understand what is happening to them... But, as a Chinese proverb says, the darkest spot is always beneath the lamp.

"A chilly early morning in Sundance, Utah, a western village surrounded by mountains. Imagine a mini-Cannes Festival in Chamonix. The screening of "The Apartment" is set for that very evening and my nerves are starting to fray... I wanted to come to Sundance without knowing much about it, apart from the fact that it had been founded by Robert Redford and that first films were shown there. The festival is above all devoted to American independent cinema, with a panorama of world cinema. By chance, Geoffrey Gilfore, director of this last section, saw my film in San Sebastian and decided to screen it. I learnt later that is was to feature in the “Première” category (with around fifteen English-language films) and that this was a first for a French movie. The two screenings went well. It's thrilling to see an American audience take pleasure in a film like mine and relate to the story and characters. Throughout the day, people greeted us in a friendly manner. Then night fell, a blizzard started blowing and I suddenly had the feeling that I was in the Coen Brothers' "Fargo"..."
