Berlin celebrates French cinema

The 7th “Französische Filmwoche” features 16 French films, with 12 invited guests attending the event in Berlin.

Each year, a French Film Week presents Berlin audiences with a selection of the latest French productions on offer.

Focusing on presenting new titles (in previews and exclusive screenings) and a diversity of genres (commercial hits and auteur films, documentaries and animated films, detective films and comedies), this year’s festival showcases 16 films from France, Belgium, Quebec, and Switzerland.
Screenings are held in the presence of directors and actors invited to the event, at two locations, the Paris Cinema on the Kurfürstendamm and the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain.

The 2007 program includes The Untouchable by Benoît Jacquot (festival opener), Azur and Asmar by Michel Ocelot, Inside Paris by Christophe Honoré, Priceless by Pierre Salvadori, Ici Najac, à vous la terre by Jean-Henri Meunier, Days of Glory by Rachid Bouchareb, Itinéraires by Christophe Otzenberger, Lady Chatterley by Pascale Ferran, La Neuvaine by Bernard Émond (Canada, Francocine Section), Bad Faith by Roschdy Zem, Mon frère se marie by Jean-Stéphane Bron, (Switzerland, Francocine Section), Où avais-je la tête? by Nathalie Donnini, Forgive Me by Maïwenn, La Raison du plus faible by Lucas Belvaux (Belgium, Francocine Section), Transylvania by Tony Gatlif, (special screening), and Ambitious by Catherine Corsini (closing film).

The following actors and directors accepted the festival’s invitation to Berlin: Catherine Corsini, Nathalie Donnini, Isild Le Besco, Maïwenn and her editor Laure Gardette, Jean-Luc Bideau, Hippolyte Girardot, Benoît Jacquot (who will also lead a masterclass with the On Set With French Cinema Program at the DFFB Film School), Jean-Henri Meunier, Christophe Otzenberger, Yann Trégouët, and Birol Ünel.

This event is organized by the Film Office at the French Embassy in Berlin’s Cultural Services Department.
