あらすじ
While on a visit to his native seaside region in southern Italy, wealthy Turin businessman Luigi is moved by the recent tragedy of a distant relative. Teenaged Rosario's mother has been murdered and his father is in prison. Through the good intentions of Luigi, Rosario is unenthusiastically brought north to Turin in a home for troubled teens run by charismatic priest Don Lorenzo. When Luigi awkwardly pushes Rosario onto his sullen teenaged son Matteo, a friendship between the boys reluctantly, but poignantly, takes shape. When Rosario's strong presence begins to inspire the confused Matteo to rebel against his father's authority, Luigi's deep-rooted complexes about his origins resurface. The fragile trust between the three of them is threatened as the emotional barriers between cultures, classes and generations become more evident…

About
Director Mimmo Calopresti, with two successful films behind him (“La Seconda Volta” and “Notes of Love”), has now confirmed the hopes placed in him. He has emerged as a major figure on the Italian film scene. His great quality is his trust in the audience’s intelligence. He deals with human weaknesses without being heavy-handed or moralizing. A hesitant gesture or glance are often enough to spark emotion, to express the difficult relationship between father and son, or to delicately convey the turmoil of adolescence. This is a subtle, accurate, poignant film.”
Laurent Djian, “L’Evénement du Jeudi,” May 18, 2000
