This event was held April 5 as part of the Vienna Francophone Film Festival, which has been hosted by the French Institute each year for over ten years.
The films presented at the Short Film Night were selected by students from the Faculties of Romance Language Studies and Theater, Film, and Media Studies at the University of Vienna. Students were required to select films from each country participating in the event (France, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, and Luxembourg). Other eligibility requirements concerned the films' running time (a maximum of 20 minutes), production language (French), and subtitling (English or German).
The film program for this event is presented in two parts, with the first covering provocative subject matter that raises questions to be discussed during a break between program sections. The second part includes content that is more conceptual, abstract, or light-hearted.
The highly responsive audiences were particularly pleased with the selection of films this year. Screenings were held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with positive feedback from those present.
