With an estimated 42 million admissions, of which around 17 million alone for French-language films, the year 2000 registered as being on average with the previous four years and confirmed the good staying power of French films on the international market. The relative decline in admissions garnered by French-language films in 2000 is only due to the exceptional results recorded by "Asterix and Obelix vs.Caesar" in 1999 (13 million admissions by itself alone). The estimated result of 17 million admissions nevertheless remains one of the best of the decade, equalling that of 1994 and 1996.
