Seven French features and seventeen Mexican short films will head out on an incredible cinematographic procession that will travel through メキシコ, Central America, and a part of South America, from September 7 through October 18.
With 359,000 admissions during its 2017 edition, the Tour de Cine Francés has become a veritable cultural and popular institution in Mexico, as well as Central America in recent years, and is soon to also travel to South America. Last year, the selection was presented in 74 cities in Mexico, before traveling to 15 cities in コスタリカ, El Salvador, Guatemala, ホンジュラス, ニカラグア and パナマ. This year, the tour will extend even further to アルゼンチン and チリ.
Jointly organized by the the Mexican distribution company of French films Nueva Era, Cinepolis theater chain, Mexican film center IMCINE, the country's Alliance Française network, and the Ambassade de France, each year the Tour de Cine Francés marks the kick-off of Mexico's cinema season.
The 2018 program comprises seven French features (as it does every year), accompanied by 17 Mexican shorts, which form a competition where the winning film receives La Palmita award. For many people, this is a way to see another kind of cinema, and they have loyally been following the event for more than twenty years.
