Off-Courts Film Festival: Twenty years of eternal youth
The 20th edition of the Off-Courts Film Festival in Trouville was held from September 6 through 14. A partner festival with UniFrance (which awards a prize each year), this event has established itself as a major player in the short film festival circuit, with its international film market a key industry meeting place.
The Off-Courts Festival program is structured around the latest discoveries in cinema, music, visual arts, and new media from France and Quebec, offering a genuine creative bridge between the two continents. Its goal: to allow all of these disciplines to interact in order to create artistic works in real time, over nine days. Since it was founded, the Off-Courts Festival has been hosting ever-growing delegations of participants. Centered on the France-Quebec connection, the event now has an international scope, bringing together professionals from many countries who come to the French city of Trouville each year to present a multidisciplinary, avant-garde, and convivial event.
13th Trouville Film Market
The festival's sidebar Short Film Market took place from September 9 through 13. This market's thirteen years of existence have allowed it to progressively become a fixture on the traditional short film distribution landscape (film distributors, broadcasters, and festivals) and, thanks to its strategic timing, to actively participate in encouraging the existence of a short film economy across a wide range of distribution channels, including television, new media, and transmedia. Held at a single location, its positioning ensures a continuity of exchanges and meetings between professionals in the sector.
It is in this context that UniFrance contributes its support to enable foreign buyers, distributors, and festival programmers who came this year from Eastern and Western Europe, and North America could find among the huge variety of films on offer titles to enrich their catalogues and program schedules. And if their opinion is anything to go by, this tenth edition was a resounding success.
