Day 2 at the festival
A day full of exciting events: * Acapulco Film Market opens. Buyers and sales agents got together Wednesday November 28 at the Cinemark for the Film Market opening. With 18 screenings occurring daily, no less than 72 French and Mexican features will be presented at this year's market in the six-screen complex. More than 60 buyers, who have come from all corners of South America, will have the opportunity of seeing a fine French/Mexican selection offered by 18 French companies and by the IMCINE. * Discussion meeting between visiting directors and Acalpulco film students. The first discussion meeting got underway at the Juan Ruiz de Alarcon Theater. With Daniel Toscan du Plantier presiding, Alfredo Joskowicz, Rodolphe Marconi, Pitof, Artus de Penguern, Anne Fontaine, Marcella Fernandez Violante (director of "De Piel de Vibora"), Martin Valente and Eric Valette exchanged ideas and their experiences with eager students. * French and Mexican artists make their mark. This afternoon, enjoying the welcome, cool breezes in the Alliance française gardens, French and Mexican artists left their handprints at the Unifrance Club. Josiane Balasko, Karin Viard, Anne Fontaine, Mélanie Laurent, Rodolphe Marconi, Benoît Poelvoorde, Gabriel Aghion, Serge Livrozet, Charles Perrière and Chaû Belle Dinh joined their Mexican colleagues Victor Hugo Arana, Juan Angel Esparza, Claudia Goytia y Juan Antonio de la Riva, Luisa Huertas, Ana Graham, Guillermo Larrea, Tony Wakefield and Armando Casas in accepting to press their hands into fresh concrete. These 'signatures' will eventually be installed on Convention Center Esplanade. * Opening Night Dinner of the 6th French/Mexican Film Festival in Acapulco at San Diego Fort. On Wednesday evening, Guerrero State Governor, Mr. René Juarez Cisneros, City Hall and the Acalpulco Tourism Office invited all the festival participants (officials, artistic and professional delegations, organizers and sponsorship partners) to a sumptuous dinner at San Diego Fort. Delicious food was accompanied by a symphony orchestra and a show highlighting local folklore and customs. A dazzling fireworks display topped off this wonderful evening.
