Released in Spain by Vertigo on June 10, the film by Pascal Laugier has registered over 150,000 admissions after 10 days on the screens.
Under the title "El internado," the feature film was released on 153 prints, jumping to 3rd place at the local box office in its opening week, and slipping one notch to 4th place the following weekend. "Saint Ange" thus ranks as the number 3 French-language film in the annual charts, behind the continued release of "The Chorus" (released in some territories as "The Choir" and "Chorists") and "A Very Long Engagement."
This triumphant launch has given French films new hope for success in Spain, with French-language titles attracting a total of 1.9 million Spanish spectators to mid-June this year – a figure comparable to that of the entire year in 2004.
