Two French productions were honored at the Oscars ceremony held in Los Angeles Sunday, March 24.
"No Man's Land" by Danis Tanovic, presented as a Bosnian film, won the award for Best Foreign Language Film. This win puts the icing on the cake for the film produced by Noé Productions, which has already collected 36 awards in international film festivals, notably for Best Screenplay at Cannes in 2001, the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film and the Cesar for Best First Film. Released in the United States on December 7, 2001 (by United Artists), "No Man's Land" has to date raked in $500,000 at the North American box office, and could well gather momentum in the wake of this recent Oscar triumph.
The Oscar for Best Documentary went to Jean-Xavier de Lestrade for his film "Murder on a Sunday Morning," produced by Maha Productions and France Télévision.
