French short films triumph once again at the Montecatini Terme International Festival, considered the Italian equivalent of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival.
The 53rd "Film Video" International Short Film Festival, which has just kicked off in Montecatini Terme, has honored French short filmmakers this year, with the national selection picking up 7 trophies (out of a total of 11 prizes awarded).
This year the festival's official competition section is showcasing over 80 short films (fiction, experimental, animated and documentary films) from the four corners of the world. The international jury, composed of Ugo Pirro (Italian screenwriter), Jean Sorel (French actor), Anna-Maria Ferrero (Italian actress), Tetsuro Akanegakubo (Japanese critic) and Asher Salah (Israeli director) have given out the following awards:
Best Short Film: "Squash" by Lionel Bailliu
Best Documentary: "La Tribu des Baiach" by Andras Solymos
Best Actors: jointly awarded to Éric Savin and Malcolm Conrath for "Squash"
Best Actress: Marie Gili-Pierre for "La mer à boire"
Best Animated Film: "Nosferatu Tango" by Zoltan Horvath
Best Cinematography: "Pulse" by Stephen Dean
