Europe’s leading sales companies met in Cannes Thursday to launch the new European Film Export Association.
The newly founded EFEA aims to defend the interests of European film production and distribution around the world. The association will conduct an in-depth study on the video and DVD markets, to be circulated to its members (currently numbering around sixty). It envisages a wide-ranging program to facilitate discussions on an equal footing with the AFMA (the American Film Marketing Association) and to exert greater influence on Brussels.
Newly-elected members include: Jacques Le Glou, Jacques-Eric Strauss (Plaza Production International), Adriana Chiesa Di Palma (Adriana Chiesa Entreprises), Wolfram-Skowronneck (Telepool) and Marina Funetes (Lola Films). Their deputies include: Alain Vannier (Orly Films), Kevin Williams (KWA), Thosten Schaumann (Bavaria), Simon de Santiago (Sogecine Sogepac) and Paola Corvino (IntraMovies). Pascal Diot was appointed Treasurer of the association.
