In the lead-up to the 2007 French Cinema Tour and the Franco-Mexican Film Festival organized by Unifrance, to be held in Mexico in November, journalists from the public broadcaster Canal Once, the daily La Jornada, and the weekly Proceso interviewed the following French actors and actresses: Catherine Corsini for Ambitious, Philippe Le Guay and Anne Consigny for Du jour au lendemain, Charles Berling for The Man of My Life, Jean-Pierre Améris for Call Me Elisabeth, Michel Blanc and Isabelle Mergault for You Are So Beautiful, along with Christian Vincent, José Garcia, and François Cluzet for Quatre étoiles. These films are to be included in the French Cinema Tour program. Journalists also interviewed Julie Gavras for Blame It On Fidel, François Cluzet for Tell No One, and Catherine Breillat and Fu'ad Aït Aattou for Une vieille maîtresse, with all three titles selected for the Unifrance Festival. Eléonore Faucher, Ariane Ascaride, and Lola Naymark were interviewed for A Common Thread, which is soon to be broadcast on Mexican television. Eric Lartigau was interviewed for I Do: How to Get Married and Stay Single, which is slated for release in upcoming weeks.
Journalists also met with Jean Labadie (from Bac Films), one of the production companies that co-produced Silent Light by Carlos Reygadas.
These two festivals were initiated with the aim of supporting and promoting the visibility of French films in the Mexico, currently Latin America’s leading market for French films.
