Unifrance is hosting the 1st Panorama of French Cinema in Vietnam, from October 11 through 15.
The films to be showcased at this first-time event are: The Ax, in the presence of Costa-Gavras (president of the delegation), Secret Agents, in the presence of Frédéric Schoendoerffer, Priceless, in the presence of Pierre Salvadori, La Vie en Rose by Olivier Dahan, Nos jours heureux, in the presence of Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, and Have Mercy on Us All, in the presence of Régis Wargnier and Linh Dan Pham, who will be returning to Vietnam more than 15 years after the making of Indochine.
Audiences will also have the chance to discover other titles presented in screenings at the French Cultural Center, including Aurore by Nils Tavernier, Bamako by Abderrahmane Sissako, The Chinese Botanist's Daughters by Sijie Dai, and Days of Glory by Rachid Bouchareb.
The French delegation, led by Unifrance President Margaret Menegoz, who will be accompanied by Véronique Cayla, General Director of the CNC, will travel to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to take part in a professional meeting with Vietnamese film directors organized by the Ministry of Culture. Over the five-day event, the actors and directors will present their films to local audiences and give interviews to media representatives.
Priceless by Pierre Salvadori is distributed in Vietnam by Megastar. Hopes are high that this Panorama of French Cinema will provide the impetus for the other films selected to find a local distributor.
With this event, Unifrance also aims to take advantage of a potential market in a fast-growing territory.
