Attached is a study on French films in Switzerland between 1998 and 2008 (YTD, released 10/31/2008), conducted by Unifrance.
Movie attendance figures are dependant upon the supply of films. Nonetheless, with the exception of a disappointing year in 2007, attendance to French films has increased since 2003, after two consecutive years of decline (2002 and 2003).
The hike in attendance reached almost 100% between 2007 and 2008, with box office revenues following this trend. An increase in the price of cinema tickets did not, however, lead to a rise in box office receipts in 2008, which did not manage to outshine 2001, a record year in terms of admissions and box office receipts (the year in which Amelie was released).
