The BAFTAS and Berlinale reward French films
The 2010 edition of the BAFTAS and Berlinale bestow honors on French films.
This award crowns the film's faultless career across the Channel. Supported by enthusiastic reviews and press coverage, along with the tremendous marketing work carried out by its distributor Optimum, A Prophet has already attracted more than 200,000 spectators to movie theaters. It was also selected as Best Film of the Year during the 30th edition of the London Critics's Circle, the British film critic association.
Filmmaker Roman Polanski was awarded Best Director for The Ghost Writer, which won the Silver Bear at the 60th Berlin Film Festival.
Polanski's earlier Cul-de-sac carried off the Golden Bear for Best Film at the Berlinale in 1966, following on Repulsion's Special Jury Prize in 1965. His latest award was considered well-deserved by the international press gathered together at the festival.
