Disney agrees to sell Miramax
Miramax Films, the legendary motion picture production and distribution company founded by the Weinstein brothers in the 1980s, is to be sold by the Walt Disney Company to a consortium of investors including the billionaire construction magnate Ron Tutor, for the sum of €500 million. Over €150 million will be devoted to film production and acquisitions, in all likelihood commercial, English-language productions.

Bob Berney, former head of Apparition and Picturehouse (La Vie en Rose), has joined the new theatrical production and distribution operation at Graham King's GK Films. He will be working alongside Peter Schlessel, former president of Sony Worldwide Affairs.
