Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre pays tribute to Raoul Ruiz
Raoul Ruiz's cinematic vision had no equivalent in the French movie scene. But it was to France that this Chilean director fled from his country's dictatorship, bringing with him his creativity, his rich imagination, his immense knowledge, and his inimitable humor.
French cinema has lost a great artist who joins the ranks of acclaimed foreign directors who have contributed so much to raising our country's international profile. Raoul Ruiz leaves behind him a prolific career which culminated in the magnificent Mysteries of Lisbon.
We have lost a friend, a man who was wonderful in every sense of the word, and who was loved by all those who worked with him.
