44th Directors' Fortnight: French selection
Held May 17 through 27, the 2012 Directors' Fortnight will showcase six feature films and two short films produced or majority co-produced by France.
Adieu Berthe - l'enterrement de mémé by Bruno Podalydès
Alyah by Elie Wajeman
Camille Rewinds by Noémie Lvovsky (closing film)
Ernest & Celestine by Stéphane Aibier, Vincent Patar, and Benjamin Renner (co-produced with Belgium and Luxembourg)
Hold Back by Rachid Djaidani
Rodri by Franco Lolli
Wrong Cops by Quentin Dupieux
This selection is completed by four French minority co-productions: three features films - A Respectable Family by Massoud Bakhshi (co-produced with Iran), The RepentantThe Repentant by Merzak Allaouache (co-produced with Morocco), and La Sirga by William Vega (co-produced with Colombia and Mexico) - and one short film, Tram by Michaela Pavlatova (co-produced with the Czech Republic).
Raoul Ruiz's final film, La noche de enfrente, will receive a special screening.
This year marks the first time with new artistic director Edouard Waintrop, former critic with the newspaper Libération. The 2012 event will open with a screening of The We and the I by Michel Gondry, presented at the American pavilion.
