Tomorrow in Sight: Nathan Ambrosioni on El'sardines (dir. Zoulikha Tahar)
Director and Tomorrow in Sight jury member Nathan Ambrosioni shares his thoughts on Zoulikha Tahar’s series El’sardines, which is part of the label and available to watch on Arte.tv. ✨
Set near Oran, the series follows Zouzou, a 30-year-old bio-marine engineer, six days before her little sister’s wedding. Still single and caught between family gossip, sessions with a hairdresser-therapist and a friendship in crisis, Zouzou struggles to tell her family that she is leaving right after the wedding to follow the sardines, which have mysteriously disappeared from Algerian waters.
A sharp and tender series about family expectations, womanhood, friendship and the courage it takes to choose your own path.
Tomorrow in Sight is a label created by Unifrance and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (@francediplo).
It is supported by patrons of the Unifrance Endowment Fund: @accor (Great Patron), @bnpparibas (Patron) & Vranken-Pommery Monopole (Patron)
