In "100% Arabica", a run-down neighbourhood on the city limits of Paris, thus nicknamed because of a broken billboard, bored is what you're not! Some are on the make, others are on the dole, the D system mixed with the ancestral traditions of a cosmopolitan population, all go to make up the neighbourhood's daily round. All these goings on are not at all to the liking of the mayor, who's preparing his re-election and hoping for a little calm. It is with this in mind that he strikes a deal with Slimane and Majid, two small-time hoodlums converted for the occasion to pseudo imams. They promise him, with the aid of a little subvention, to keep order until the elections by recruiting the young layabouts. Only thing is, the idlers in question would rather go to the gig of Raporiental, the Raï group of Rachid and Cheb Krimo.

"I think the film has a positive message, without being heavy handed. It tries to show that kids are not all delinquents, once they're given the means to express themselves. Music remains one of the roads to salvation, amongst others." (Khaled- Interview by Hacène Chouchaoui, France-Soir)
