The action takes place over the period of one day and recounts the series of events which lead to a meeting between a young man and woman. The combined effects of a full moon, hypothermia, a block of chocolate, a malfunctioning electric coffee machine, a coward's lie, pigeon droppings smearing a photo, the planet Venus, a child's nightmare, a white stone, treasure found in a milk bottle, a squashed cockroach, and a yellow jacket dumped in the street are necessary for their love affair to bloom. Isn't it said that a butterfly beating its wings in the Atlantic can cause a tornado in the Pacific? By pure accident, the paths of the young man and woman will cross, and their lives, perhaps, be overturned.

The characters in this film only have a fragmentary awareness of their own story. It’s interesting to show what’s hidden from them, everything they’re unaware of. We all have limited awareness of our lives. Spectators always have the impression of knowing more than the characters in a movie. Multiplying the number of viewpoints in a story reveals its complexity – everyone has their own idea of the truth. The tiniest details and tiniest acts are always of crucial importance.
