Before being a movie,Ccomme un aimant was an emblematic tittle from an IAM album called " Ombre et lumièr "e released in 1993. The story is about a group of friends in their thirties living in Marseille in a neighbourhood called Le Panier. They have quite a happy life mande of parties, deals, sun and leasiness, but the fate of their district will overtake them. Just in a few days during summertime these carefree young people will be pushed into an nnounced tragedy.

About
The fate of these characters is inevitably tragic. We wanted to show the generation of people just ahead of us, people who are now fifty or sixty years old. When I was eleven or twelve, I hung around those guys; they were the same age I am today, but now most of them are dead, some have vanished, and others are doing 30-year stretches in prison. Those are the people we wanted to show.
In a housing project, there aren’t many possibilities: either you get out and manage to make something of your life, or else – for most people I know – you wind up in prison, dead of an overdose, or insane. Those are the kinds of characters we wanted to write about.
