Clive and Elisa are superstars in the world of science: they've manage to combine the DNA of different animal species to obtain fantastic hybrids. They are both as in love with each other as they are with their work and now wish to progress to the next stage of splicing human and animal DNA.
When the pharmaceutical laboratory that is financing them refuses to support their work, Clive and Elsa decide to pursue their experiments in secret. They create Dren, an astonishing creature whose rapid growth makes it become an adult in only a few months. When they redouble their efforts to preserve their secret, their scientific interest in Dren slowly transforms into an emotional attachment.
