Ceramicist Emmanuelle Manche has set up her studio in a former cellar adjoining her house. During whole days, she gives form to slabs of clay. Her hands seem like an extension of her unconscious. Without quite knowing it, Manche creates waves from the sea where she played as a child. Beyond the craft and art of ceramics, the film reveals a relationship to the clay whose origins can be found in the first steps of childhood, like a prelude to the artistic vocation.
