François De Jonge is part of the Belgian alternative art scene. In his minute drawings, which border on obsession, the artist develops an anxiety-provoking world where his alter ego Franco, coping with his human condition, often features. Full of the end of the world, makeshift cabins, abandonned scrap iron, even the sky seems to have deserted this science fiction portrait. Francophobia maps a mental world in which the borders between reality and imagination, artwork and life, become blurred to the point of merging together.
