The film begins with a romantic pledge: "I can change!" A promise that we hear all too often, that we know can never be kept. Amie has fallen deeply in love with Bobby, a young Romanian Rom who lives on the streets, and who loves heroin more than anything in the world. They have lived out their passionate love story between the parking lot at the Gare de Lyon train station and small Paris hotels, and still nothing has made Bobby change. Left powerless by the failure of her love to be strong enough to change him, the director uses filmmaking as the only means possible to heal her wounds. Or perhaps to write a harrowing love letter to the man who cannot read but speaks all languages.
