In Berlin, Hélène Berg’s peaceful, middle-class life is turned upside down by a phone call. Her daughter, Anya, a student in Paris, is the prime suspect in a murder case. Convinced of her innocence, Hélène takes the first flight to be by her daughter’s side. Once there, she conducts her own investigation, aided by Vincent, a French lawyer—and her childhood sweetheart, whom she hasn’t seen in twenty years. But as they make progress in their search, Hélène and Vincent uncover incriminating evidence against Anya. Doubt creeps in: what if it’s true? What if her daughter is guilty?
