Mustang, the debut film by the Turkish director Deniz Gamze Ergüven (majority co-produced for France by Charles Gillibert at CG Cinéma), was selected today from among five shortlisted French films.
It will now be over to the internal committee of the Academy Awards to narrow down its list of finalists to just five foreign films (from around one hundred productions initially proposed for selection) that will compete at the Oscars 2016 on February 28, 2016.
The five nominees in the Best Foreign-Language Film category will be announced in December.
