Four French co-productions feature in the list of six nominees for Best European Film at the European Film Awards (EFA), which will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for December 12 in Berlin.
The nominations have been unveiled for the 2015 European Film Awards, to be held in Berlin on December 12. Four French co-productions are among the six titles nominated for the top EFA award, Best European Film:
- A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence by Roy Andersson
- Mustang by Deniz Gamze Ergüven
- The Lobster by Yorgos Lanthimos
- Youth by Paolo Sorrentino
In the Best Comedy category, the three nominees are all French (co-)productions:
- エール! by Éric Lartigau
- The Brand New Testament by Jaco Van Dormael
- A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence by Roy Andersson
Vincent Lindon has additionally been nominated in the Best Actor category for his performance in A Simple Man.
The winners of the five technical awards have already been chosen by a special jury of European movie industry professionals. Representing France, Sylvie Olivé has won the EFA for Best Production Design for The Brand New Testament, while Sarah Blenkinsop picked up the prize for Best Costume Design for The Lobster.
The 3,000 members of the European Film Academy will now set to work to elect the winners of the remaining categories, who will accept their awards on stage at the Berliner Festspiele on December 12.
