The Argentinean festival throws the spotlight on France for its 33rd edition, which will take place from November 10 through 17. Special guests: Jean-Pierre Léaud, Pierre Richard, and Leos Carax.
France is the country of honor at the 33rd edition of the Mar Del Plata International Film Festival, one of the most important cinema events in アルゼンチン (A FIAPF A-listed festival) and will be represented by three icons of French film: Jean-Pierre Léaud, Pierre Richard, and Leos Carax.
Jean-Pierre Léaud, who will be attending the festival for the first time, will accompany a retrospective of a few major films: 大人は判ってくれない, 夜霧の恋人たち, ママと娼婦, and The Death of Louis XIV, and will participate in a discussion with the public.
Pierre Richard will present several films (Knock on Wood / The Goat, The Troubles of Alfred, and Mr Stein Goes Online) and will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award after a Q&A session with the public.
Lastly, Leos Carax will attend screenings of four of his films (ボーイ・ミーツ・ガール, Holy Motors, 汚れた血, ポンヌフの恋人), and will also receive a special award for his career.
In terms of the official competition, Cassandro the Exotico ! by Marie Losier will represent France, while, in the Panorama section, the country will be present through Non-Fiction by Olivier Assayas, Paul Sanchez is Back! by Patrizia Mazuy, and Sophia Antipolis by Virgil Vernier.
