The Cartoonbrew site reveals the list of 84 animated shorts eligible for the 2022 Oscars. Among them, 18 films are French or French coproductions, a number equal to last year's.
Each of the 84 longlist short films was selected based on specific criteria, including awards from international festivals. The shortlist will be revealed on December 21.
The last French animated short film to win the Oscar was Mr Hublot, but it was a minority co-production with Luxembourg. The last 100% French production to have won the statuette was Logorama, in 2009.
