About French audiovisual exports to Asia and Oceania (source: CNC/Unifrance study)
Exports of French audiovisual programs to Asia/Oceania fell again by 7.2% in 2024 to €13.0 million. The region accounted for 6.2% of global sales (-0.7 points), its lowest share since 2008 (6.1%). Animation remained the leading genre sold in the region with €6.8 million, or 52.0% of the region's total (+5.3 points), ahead of documentaries with €2.6 million in sales (19.8% market share, -4.9 points) and fiction with €2.0 million in sales (15.2%, -5.4 points). Animation sales rose slightly by 3.3% to €6.8 million but remained below the average recorded between 2015 and 2024 (€7.9 million). Sales of documentaries and fiction fell by 25.7% to €2.6 million and 31.5% to €2.0 million, respectively.
However, it is worth highlighting the positive results in Southeast Asia: sales to this region (including Singapore and Indonesia) more than tripled in 2024 (+226.2%), reaching a total of €2.9 million. Due to the large number of players present in these countries, including Canal+ in Vietnam and Myanmar, the region has significant potential for French audiovisual content. In 2024, sales in the region were well above the average recorded over the last decade (€1.8 million, +62.7%).
