For its 23rd edition, held from June 25 through July 2, the Filmfest München continues its "New French Cinema" series, with two preview screenings and six as yet unreleased French films programmed.
For its second year helmed by new festival director Andreas Ströhl, the Munich International Film Festival will once again showcase a top-class selection of French films, all screened at the MaxX multiplex, the festival's nerve center.
"Holy Lola" by Bertrand Tavernier and "Me and My Sister" by Alexandra Leclère will be offered their German premieres prior to their commercial release, on August 18 for "Holy Lola" (Prokino) and August 25 for "Me and My Sister" (Arsenal Filmverleih). Bertrand Tavernier will be making the trip to Munich to lead the promotion of his film.
As regards films not as yet released in Germany, the Filmfest has selected "The Giraffe's Neck" by Safy Nebbou, "Cold Showers" by Antony Cordier, "Mon Ange" by Serge Frydman, "La Petite Chartreuse" by Jean-Pierre Denis, "Kings and Queen" by Arnaud Desplechin, and "Zim and co. (La caisse)" by Pierre Jolivet.
Jean-Pierre Denis, Antony Cordier and Salomé Stévenin, along with Pierre and Adrien Jolivet will be in Munich to present their films to the German media. Essentially dedicated to the public, the Filmfest is Germany's number 2 film festival after the Berlin International Film Festival, and welcomes a sizeable number of distributors.
