"Transporter 2" is set to be one of French cinema's biggest international hits of 2005.
Already boasting successful releases in 16 countries, the film directed by Louis Leterrier and produced by EuropaCorp enjoyed an excellent launch in Russia and Ukraine in September.
Released in Russia September 8 on 120 prints by the distributor Gemini, "Transporter 2" registered 155,722 spectators on its opening weekend. And with $730,108 in the till, it jumped to the top spot at the box office. In its third week on Russian screens, the film sat at 6th place, with 352,133 admissions to its credit and receipts worth $1.5 million at September 25.
In Ukraine, "Transporter 2" was also released by Gemini, this time with 25 prints in circulation. The film attracted 30,561 spectators and took $125,000 on its opening weekend. By week 3, the film had registered 69,441 admissions.
