UniFrance Films will host the annual Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris from January 15-21, 2013.
Over the four-day event, the Grand Hotel Intercontinental will welcome 450 international distributors who will be in Paris to discover the latest French productions presented by sales agents. 90 films, including around 50 unreleased titles, will be screened at the film market.
Featuring among these productions are It Happened in Saint-Tropez by Danièle Thompson, which will be presented in a gala screening on opening night, and world previews of ハッピーエンド by Agnès Jaoui, 11.6 by Philippe Godeau, and Turf by Fabien Onteniente. The majority of these films will be rescreened after the market on the FestivalScope platform.
Held as a sidebar to the event, the annual press junket has grown to become the largest of its kind in the world. 130 journalists from 25 countries will travel to Paris in January to meet with artists from French films scheduled for release in their respective countries in 2013.
Last year, 130 artists took part in this promotional exercise.
UniFrance Films will hold a press conference on Friday, January 18, at 6.30 p.m. at the Gaîté Lyrique cultural center. UniFrance Films directors will announce the results of French films in international theaters in 2012 and the main thrust of the association's activities in 2013.
On this occasion, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Laurent Fabius, will present a Legion of Honor to the directors of The Intouchables and The Artist, two of French cinema's international hits of 2012.
The 18th Lumiere Awards ceremony will be held following this press conference. Presented each year by foreign press correspondents based in Paris, the Lumiere Awards honor the most outstanding work in French and French-language filmmaking of the previous calendar year.
