About
"The Eyes of Asia is a film about intolerance and in particular the irrational, inhuman and timeless nature of intolerance. It could have been a film about Auschwitz or Tienanmen, about the great modern machines of repression, but we chose the setting of 16th-century Japan and religious violence because we felt there was something exemplary about this tale of Western faith falling into disrepute against the exotic backdrop of the East Q especially as it happens to be set in Nagasaki, where the problem of intolerance has a particularly legendary and brutal echo."
