あらすじ
In life, everyone runs all the time : to take the lift to the top floor (delivery men), the fire-escape (the thieves), the motorway, the next plane, the next man's seat, the next man's wife. Everyone runs to get somewhere and to be in the race. Because everybody is looking for something : a taxi, a parking place, a job, a bar, a swindle, an escape, a little sushine, money, trouble, ideas, God or "gods". And sometimes, someone happens to find everything that he's looking for.

"I don't know what I can do or not to do. I think I change genres with each film yet I can also say that I've never made anything but comedies. I love comedy. I was surprised to surprise people when I suggested adapting Donald Westlake's novel, a crazy novel that imperturbably and obstinately piles up unlikely encounters and twists of fate. I know what the novel made me want to film : a car chase on a motorway at a very slow speed; endless car accidents caused by bad drivers; characters seen from above by a hawk as they fight over a totally inedible object; dogs that topple men like skittles; a man who runs after a woman, him on foot and her in a car; a pretty woman pushing a harp case through the streets; a woman locking her lover who isn't really her lover in a closet; a man, who hopes to become a woman's lover, locking her husband up in a closet, and so one closet leads an other; men and women who decide to start a new life at 13:59; heroes who triumph but not in the way they imagined.."
