An Air So Pure
あらすじ
During the First World War, a lawyer and a doctor buy an old house in the mountains which they convert into a "rest home" a kind of hotel-cum-sanatorium, a place of leisure and cure, for both holiday-makers in search of peace and quiet and ill people suffering from nervous and pulmonary ailments. Yet behind the hotel's luxury, and the beauty of the landscapes of this strange mountain-top setting, whose single link with the outside world is the daily passage of war-wounded, there lurks a disturbing reality : unbearable solitude, sordid affairs of money and sex, betrayal, absurd deaths, calculated murders, emotional devastation... all of which serves to warp the daily veneer of decorum and good conduct. This is a human "comedy" which through solitude and suffering reveals the underlying nature and ambiguity of each individual.
