あらすじ
1996 - An Algerian couple, Aya and Moncef have been living for nearly 40 years in a small town in the South of France. Both took part in the War of Independence under the command of Amin, then an FLN leader. Now, he's returned to pay them a visit. Aya remembers... 1958 - When Amin took refuge with them, Aya was only 22 years old, yet she'd already two children. She was shy and illiterate, and under her husband's thumb. But the revolution was in need of women: Amin engages Aya to collect funds, to transport and deliver arms, etc... The young woman proves to be the perfect militant, zealous and courageous. Little by little she discovers unsuspected strengths within, emancipates herself, and savours, for the first time, a certain form of freedom. The return of Amin allows Aya to prove once more her strength of character in giving her new reasons to hope and struggle for a land she'll never again see, but which will be forever in her heart.

About
"A truth emerges from ''Sous les pieds des femmes'' a truth that is human, sometimes painful, in a world torn apart. The story, which was written by Rachida, a Frenchwoman of Algerian birth, is about something that happened to her family during the Algerian War and still penetrates the chaotic world of Algeria today. A painful film, therefore, but a film full of hope and the deep sensivity born of first-hand experience, about the women's struggle. Like Louis Aragon, it asks the question, ''Is Woman the Future of Man?'' Rachida Krim came out of our director's workshop with her first short film ''El Fatha'', which we produced in 1989 and won numerous prizes at international festivals worldwide." (Eric Atlan)
