あらすじ
In a lonely house on the Carso plateau near Trieste, an elderly woman decides to write a long letter in the shape of a diary to her granddaughter. She knows that time is short for her and, with this love letter, wishes to renew a relationship that has been made difficult not only the young girl's adolescent crisis but also by the tragic death of her own daughter. She is therefore forced to look back over her own life: her rigid, bourgeois upbringing, her marriage of convenience with a kind but boring man, her secret affair with her daughter's father. Through the story of several generations of women, without false modesty or rhetoric but harshness at times, she tells her granddaughter about herself and invites her to carry out the same "journey" as her: a journey of self-exploration, far from false values and clichés, while above all listening to the voice of the heart.

About
When Carla Cattani asked me to adapt my novelfor the screen, I immediately thought of Cristina Comencini. Once she accepted, I left everything in her hands. Cristina Comencini was able to use her approach, her sensitivity and her "art" to tell a story that henceforward belongs to her. I didn't renounce all interest in her work but I simply remained discreet. I read the screenplay and I was stunned by the extraordinary job that she had done. I went to the set for the first day of shooting to show her that I was with her. And, with the same self-control, I went to see "her" film that had the same title as "my" book. (Susanna Tamaro -
